CHIM LAC: FX AND BACKGROUNDS FOR MN OPERA

I recently had the good fortune to play a sound design role in the Minnesota Opera production “Chim Lạc” (Lost Bird), created by Oanh Vu and Charlie McCarron. I edited sound effects and backgrounds that were then blended with McCarron’s music by mixer Andy Thompson. Here’s a video showcasing some of my sound edit work in isolation, and then in context with the music:

Conceived as streaming programming at the height of 2020 pandemic quarantine, the piece integrates shadow puppet craft with remotely recorded and mixed music, dialog, and sound design. I’m delighted to have played a small part in this production.
