THE WRONG STUFF

I’ve been reading “The Wrong Stuff: How the Soviet Space Program Crashed and Burned” by John Strausbaugh after hearing an interview with the author on a podcast. The desperation and enforced ineptness of it all would be hilarious if not for how horrifying it was. OK, it’s hilarious in spite of all that, but darkly so.

In any case, I came upon this list of pop music inspired by the Sputnik launch (below), and I’m dropping it here just to remind myself to look up these tracks when I get a chance. I imagine I have friends who have heard at least some of this– does any of it ring a bell for anybody? It doesn’t for me. Looking forward to digging it up.
