ACTUAL DRUMS!
Hark! What’s this? Why, it’s a “new” drum kit. Seeing my previous post where I was playing a chair and a cardboard box in lieu of actual drums, my friend Charles took pity on me. He let me know he’d found a discarded drum set out on the curb down the block near his house, and had subsequently encountered a great deal of difficulty unloading them on anyone else. I had not previously been acquainted with the Gammon line of percussion products, and it’s my understanding that this lack of awareness dovetails well with the reluctance of Charles’ other drummer friends to acquire them, even at the zero-dollar price point on offer.
And upon investigation, do I find this kit to be without flaw? To be sure, I do not. But given the art-damaged purposes to which I wish to subject these instruments on the project in question, they embody nothing less than perfection. I look forward to getting to know them better. Thanks again, Charles!
And while I’m at it, given this kit’s mode of acquisition, I’d like to take a moment and just, you know, mention other things I wish I had: a hi hat, more cymbals, a drum throne, a complete collection of Neumann mics, a new car, and world peace. Thanks in advance!
