DEBORAH REED, 1950- 2023

Those who know me well are quite aware of my fondness for the movie Troll 2. Within this glorious mess of a movie, the character of Creedence Leonore Gielgud stands alone. The film is a trip in and of itself, but Gielgud— played with total commitment by actress Deborah Reed— takes it to a whole new incredible level. She's on a whole different plane than anybody else in the cast, and elevates every scene she's in.

I jumped at the chance to befriend Reed when I saw she was on Facebook, and it was an honor to interact with her as she very kindly responded to my enthusiasm when I posted my thanks for her work on her page. As she grew better and better known, she used her platform as a springboard for environmental activism, urging us all to “Go Green with the Troll 2 Queen”.

I'm grateful for the joy she's brought to me and so many others over the years, and I'll never forget her.

Rest in peace, Ms. Reed. You were indeed our Queen.
